Psoriasis and Eczema

While to the untrained eye psoriasis and eczema can look similar, trained dermatologists tend to see the subtle differences between the two when it appears on the skin. While eczema usually appears like red, inflamed skin that is accompanied by intense itching, psoriasis can appear as thicker, rougher, and sometimes overlapping patches of skin and is usually accompanied by mild itching. Eczema is usually found in the crooks of the elbows and knees while psoriasis is usually found on the elbows, knees, buttocks, scalp and hands.
